Honduran Fuel Prices Surge Nearly 50% for Gasoline, 70% for Diesel in 2026

A new pricing structure took effect on 3 August 2026, causing sharp increases in Honduras' fuel market. Super‑grade gasoline rose from L99.05 to L147.03 per gallon, a 49.6% jump, while diesel climbed from L84.36 to L141.67, up 69.8%. The rise also affected regular gasoline, kerosene and LPG, adding several lempiras per gallon across the Central District and San Pedro Sula.

The steep price hikes are expected to strain transportation costs, the basic food basket and the broader economy, especially as more than 60% of the population lives in poverty. The data were presented in a graphic by the consulting firm ConsultingHN, which tracked price trends over the first 31 weeks of 2026.
