Honduran Liberal Party rejects current electricity reform, proposes public ENEE model
The Liberal Party of Honduras announced it will not back the proposed reform of the electricity sector as currently drafted. It presented an alternative that seeks to keep the Empresa Nacional de Energía Eléctrica (ENEE) fully public, forbid any privatization, and introduce measures for fair tariffs, transparency and financial stabilization.
National Party deputy Lissi Cano stressed the urgency of passing reforms to stop daily losses of millions of lempiras, insisting the changes are not aimed at privatizing ENEE. Liberal bench leader Jorge Calix echoed a commitment to reorganize ENEE under a public, transparent and efficient model.
