Honduran maquiladoras report improved investment climate outlook
Guillermo Matamoros, regional manager of the Honduran Maquiladora Association, has noted a positive attitude from officials in the new administration regarding the improvement of the investment climate. He stated that the administration's officials have shown a strong willingness to support the sector, which is seen as a vital step toward recovering industrial competitiveness.
Matamoros emphasized that restoring the sector's strength will require reducing costs, increasing productivity, and effectively leveraging Honduras's geographic and commercial advantages. He noted that while the industrial platform remains intact, the industry must move beyond simply replacing lost jobs by focusing on international market participation and attracting new investments through improved reliability and productive integration.
