Honduran medical assemblies threaten healthcare services

The Colegio Médico de Honduras (CMH) has called for informative assemblies that could disrupt the national healthcare system. Darío Zúniga, executive director of Hospital Escuela, warned that these actions could impact outpatient services and elective surgeries, though emergency care would continue as normal.

Zúniga noted that the hospital faces ongoing challenges in laboratories, blood banks, and operating rooms, partly due to financial obligations inherited from the previous administration. He stated that salary commitments are being met gradually.

President Nasry Asfura has urged doctors not to abandon patient care, asserting that the government has consistently fulfilled its payment obligations and will continue to do so. Asfura emphasized the need to maintain health services for those in need while the administration addresses outstanding debts.
