Honduran migrants launch new caravan toward United States

Approximately 300 Honduran migrants departed from San Pedro Sula on October 13, 2026, to begin a new caravan heading toward the United States. Participants, including men, women, and families from various regions such as Tegucigalpa, Comayagua, and Choluteca, organized the journey via social media to mitigate economic hardships and lack of employment opportunities.

The U.S. Embassy in Honduras issued a warning regarding the movement, stating that participating in a caravan does not guarantee entry into the country. The diplomatic mission cautioned against paying human traffickers and warned that irregular border crossings result in detention, deportation, and legal processing.

This movement occurs amid projections from the National Institute of Migration (INM) suggesting that Honduras could see approximately 50,000 deportations by the end of 2026.
