Honduras and Panama aim to draw roughly $2.5 bn in energy investments

Honduran Minister of Investments Epaminondas Marinakys said the country has a pipeline of about $2 billion in projects that will launch this year if investors are offered reliable, low‑cost electricity and clear legal rules. The government is pushing a comprehensive energy‑sector reform that would restructure the state utility ENEE, cut its operating deficit and lower tariffs, with the draft law now being debated in Congress.

In Panama, the transmission company Etesa announced two recent licensing rounds that are expected to bring between $400 million and $500 million of private capital to the provinces of Coclé, Herrera and Veraguas. The contracts cover new hydro‑electric, solar, wind and hybrid plants, as well as upgrades to existing facilities, and are designed to secure firm power supply through 2048 while creating jobs and supporting local suppliers.
