Honduras cloud seeding program shows positive results for agriculture

Honduras' Secretariat of Agriculture and Livestock (SAG) reports positive results from its cloud seeding program, noting a recovery in pastures for livestock in targeted areas. Moisés Molina, the Secretary of SAG, stated that the cloud stimulation treatments have yielded favorable outcomes and that authorities are evaluating whether to expand operations if atmospheric conditions allow.

Currently, half of the planned flights for the project remain pending. The initiative is funded by the government alongside contributions from the private sector, specifically from the sugar and vegetable industries. While early flights have provided significant precipitation in areas like the Dry Corridor, technical analysis is ongoing to determine the exact impact of the process on recorded rainfall.

In anticipation of a predicted long and hot dry season, officials are urging producers to take preventive measures. This includes storing forage in silos to ensure livestock have sufficient food during periods of low precipitation.
