Honduran President Nasry Asfura is pushing for legislative priority regarding the National Electric Energy Company (ENEE). He has requested that the National Congress refrain from pursuing parallel energy reforms, insisting that the Executive's original proposal must be approved first to address the company's financial and operational challenges. Asfura expressed openness to including a constitutional provision stating ENEE belongs to Honduras, provided it receives the necessary 86 votes.

In other domestic developments, the government has reached an agreement with labor unions to provide a monthly salary increase of 1,200 lempiras for public sector employees, retroactive to June 2026. Additionally, the Ministry of Finance (Sefin) and the Superior Court of Accounts (TSC) have signed a cooperation agreement to enhance transparency and concurrent fiscal oversight of public funds.

On the diplomatic front, Honduras is seeking alternatives for citizens under Temporary Protected Status (TPS) in the United States. Ambassador Roberto Flores Bermúdez is scheduled to meet with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to discuss legal pathways, employment authorizations, and orderly return mechanisms.
