Honduras expects heavy rainfall from tropical wave
A tropical wave is expected to enter Honduras on Friday, September 18, bringing significant rainfall across much of the country throughout the weekend. According to the National Center for Atmospheric, Oceanographic, and Seismic Studies (Cenaos), the phenomenon is predicted to produce “generous” rains, with accumulations potentially reaching 80 millimeters in the central and southern regions.
In other areas, rainfall is expected to range between 30 and 40 millimeters. These rains are particularly critical for Tegucigalpa, which is currently facing a water emergency. Current projections suggest that the capital's potable water service may only be guaranteed until October, making the recovery of water sources and reservoirs a high priority.
