Honduras deploys military to cemeteries for Day of the Dead
Honduran security forces have implemented a large-scale deployment to protect cemeteries during Day of the Dead commemorations. The operation includes personnel from the Army, Air Force, Navy, and the Military Police of Public Order (PMOP).
According to military spokesperson Mario Rivera, troops are maintaining a presence within cemeteries and conducting patrols at entrances and access roads to ensure the safety of families visiting gravesites. In addition to security duties, military personnel are assisting with community support activities, such as cleaning and maintenance of various cemetery grounds.
In the capital, the Municipal District of Central (AMDC) also supported citizens at the General Cemetery in Tegucigalpa and Comayagüela. Local officials accompanied families during the commemorative day, emphasizing the municipality's role in maintaining common areas and public spaces during the high-traffic holiday.
