Honduras prepares cloud seeding to combat Corredor Seco drought

The Honduran Secretariat of Agriculture and Livestock (SAG) is preparing to launch a cloud seeding program to combat drought in the Corredor Seco region. SAG Minister Moisés Molina stated that the designated aircraft is already in the country, with necessary equipment and supplies expected to arrive as early as next Monday.

The operation aims to benefit between 1.8 and 2 million hectares in the most drought-stricken areas. The program will focus on the Corredor Seco and sectors near Tegucigalpa and its dams.

Implementation is strictly dependent on meteorological conditions. Technical specialists, including meteorologist Francisco Argeñal, must identify specific cloud formations suitable for the procedure before flights can be authorized. The initiative follows evaluations conducted since late August to address the water crisis and its impact on agricultural activities.
