Honduras President Nasry Asfura Highlights Six‑Month Achievements and New Business Growth

President Nasry Asfura marked the first six months of his administration with a report that emphasized progress in health, education, security, infrastructure, energy and public finances. He urged the National Congress to approve reforms aimed at financially stabilising the state electricity utility ENEE, and noted continued talks with the International Monetary Fund to secure a new agreement before year‑end. The president also cited growth in international reserves, fiscal discipline, distribution of school textbooks, measures to reduce surgical wait times and ensure drug supplies in public hospitals, as well as expanded police operations against extortion, drug trafficking and organized crime. Infrastructure initiatives include road repairs, acquisition of municipal equipment and water‑project developments such as new dams.

In parallel, the government announced that 2,700 new companies were registered during the first 183 days of Asfura’s term, signalling confidence in the private sector. Officials said they are streamlining permits, clarifying regulations and coordinating agencies such as the National Agricultural Sanitation Service (Senasa) and the Sanitary Regulation Agency (ARSA) to facilitate investment and job creation.
