Honduras schedules widespread power cuts for July 11

The state electricity company ENEE announced that on Saturday, 11 July 2026, it will carry out preventive maintenance on high‑voltage equipment at the Suyapa and El Progreso substations. The work will require planned interruptions of service between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. in the Distrito Central, several municipalities of Francisco Morazán and parts of Yoro.

Affected neighborhoods include Villa Centroamericana, Villa Universitaria, Plaza La Loma, Residencial Monte Verde, Brisas del Valle, colonies such as 28 de Marzo, San Miguel, Los Próceres, as well as commercial zones, schools, the American Embassy warehouse, and various radio and TV transmitter sites. ENEE said the outages are intended to improve reliability of the national grid and that power will be restored once the maintenance is completed.
