Honduras targets infrastructure development and US trade expansion
Honduras is pursuing dual strategies to bolster its economy through infrastructure improvements and strengthened trade ties with the United States.
The Honduran Chamber of Construction Industry (CHICO) and Cementos del Norte (Cenosa) have announced the fourth Infrastructure Forum, scheduled for November 5 in San Pedro Sula. The forum aims to identify priority projects for the Sula Valley, focusing on road improvements, drainage systems, flood control, and logistics infrastructure to increase regional competitiveness and mitigate climate vulnerabilities.
Simultaneously, Honduran economic officials are working to deepen commercial relations with the United States. Minister of Economic Development Eddy Ordóñez and other officials met with the Honduran Ambassador to Washington to discuss strengthening industrial policy, facilitating national exports, and attracting foreign investment. The initiative seeks to modernize foreign trade processes and simplify export procedures to help Honduran companies compete more effectively in international markets.
