Chelsea agree £40m deal for Atalanta defender Honest Ahanor

Chelsea has reached an agreement with Atalanta to sign 18-year-old Italian international defender Honest Ahanor in a deal worth approximately £40 million to £48 million. Due to Premier League regulations that prevent clubs from having more than one player on loan from the same domestic club, a complex transfer structure has been implemented.

Ahanor will not join Chelsea immediately; instead, he will spend the 2026-27 season on loan at Crystal Palace. This arrangement allows Palace to secure defensive cover following an injury to Chadi Riad, while Chelsea will officially register Ahanor as a player in 2027.

In related transfer activity, Chelsea striker Marc Guiu has joined RB Leipzig on a five-year deal worth £14.5 million. Additionally, Chelsea is reportedly monitoring midfielder Manu Koné from Roma as a potential replacement should Enzo Fernández move to Manchester City.
