Honey Deuce cocktail becomes a multi-million dollar US Open staple
The Honey Deuce, the official cocktail of the US Open, has evolved into a significant cultural and economic phenomenon. Created by Grey Goose, the drink consists of vodka, lemonade, and raspberry liqueur, garnished with three honeydew melon balls designed to resemble tennis balls.
In 2025, the cocktail generated more than $17 million in sales, with over 738,000 units sold. The logistical scale required to support the drink is substantial; for the 2026 tournament, approximately 8,000 cases of honeydew melons are expected to be transported from California to New York to meet demand.
Beyond the tournament grounds, the drink's popularity has extended to locations such as the Amex lounge at JFK Airport. Since its introduction in 2007, the Honey Deuce has become a status symbol and a staple of the US Open experience, often featured in social media posts by fans and celebrities alike.
