Indonesia's IHSG Rises as Market Gains, TPIA Rebounds and Rupiah Shows Strength
The Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) posted gains across several trading sessions in mid‑July 2026, moving above the 6.000 level. On 13 July the index closed at 6.039, with 439 stocks in the green zone and a transaction value of Rp 16.4 trillion. The following day it opened at 6.061, supported by 266 advancing stocks and an early‑trade volume of Rp 488 billion. On 15 July the index opened at 6.068, rising 0.47 % and trading 239 green stocks. By 16 July the opening level reached 6.056‑6.061, with sectoral strength in energy, consumer non‑cyclical, finance, materials and technology, while cyclical consumer and infrastructure lagged. Top gainers repeatedly included PT Asia Sejahtera Mina (AGAR), PT Prodia Diagnostic Line (PRDL) and PT Nusantara Pelabuhan Handal (PORT).
Chandra Asri Pacific (TPIA) recorded a net foreign buy of Rp 89.69 billion on 13 July and rose 1.60 % to Rp 1,910, buoyed by a new waste‑to‑energy project in Serang and a diversified business mix. Analysts noted the rebound after the stock’s removal from the MSCI index.
The Indonesian rupiah opened slightly weaker at Rp 18,071 per US $, but analysts expected limited upside to the Rp 18,000‑18,100 range as weaker US producer‑price data eased pressure on the dollar, despite ongoing Middle‑East geopolitical risks.
