Hong Kong conducts first Huanggang Port stress test

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government conducted its first large-scale stress test at Huanggang Port in collaboration with Shenzhen authorities on August 22, 2026. The exercise involved over 10,000 civil servants from more than 70 bureaux and departments to simulate peak passenger and vehicular flows.

The drill tested automated “collaborative inspection” channels, manual counters, and concentrated-flow release procedures. Approximately 1,000 simulated vehicle trips were performed through joint one-stop clearance lanes to evaluate queuing, risk assessment, and inspection workflows. Chief Secretary for Administration Chan Kwok-ki noted that operations mirrored high-load conditions. Officials intend to refine details with Shenzhen counterparts before announcing an official opening date for the port.
