A major pressure test completed in late August involved over 20,000 civil servants to evaluate passenger clearance and transport connections. This exercise featured the first test of a ‘five-in-one’ integrated vehicle lane, which reduced vehicle clearance time to approximately one minute. Security Bureau Secretary Deng Bingqiang noted the operation was generally smooth, with maximum transit times not exceeding 15 minutes. He also announced that travelers will be able to use either Hong Kong identity cards or Mainland travel permits for e-channels. Officials are now conducting internal reviews with Shenzhen authorities to finalize the official opening date.
