Hong Kong Cyclothon to feature new route and UCI road race
The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) will host the Sun Hung Kai Properties Hong Kong Cyclothon on October 11. Public registration for the event opens on August 20.
This year’s event features an upgraded 56 km non-competitive route, dubbed the ‘Five Tunnels, Three Bridges’ route, which will utilize the newly opened Central Kowloon Bypass for the first time. A 32 km ‘Two Tunnels, Two Bridges’ route will also be available. More than 6,500 places are offered for these non-competitive rides.
The event marks the return of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) Class 1.1 Road Race, featuring approximately 100 elite cyclists from 17 teams representing 11 countries and regions on a new 100 km course. Additionally, a new World University Trophy will be introduced, inviting student cyclists from top-ranked global universities.
A Cyclothon Carnival will be held at the West Kowloon Cultural District to engage the public with music, dining, and various activities. The event also promotes sports for charity, with proceeds supporting social welfare organizations.
