Hong Kong launches International Arts Carnival and Tai Kwun summer film exhibition

Hong Kong’s Leisure and Cultural Services Department opened the International Arts Carnival 2026 in July, featuring the interactive art exhibition “IMAGINE! PLAY!”. The exhibition, presented with the First Initiative Foundation and Garden, offers four themed zones where families can create music, light displays and artwork, including a “Little Composer” installation that turns touch‑activated notes into visual patterns.

Separately, Tai Kwun’s annual summer show, titled “Better Together – Partnering Up for Hong Kong Movies”, runs at the Duplex Studio until 4 October. Curated by film director Sunny Chan Wing‑san in association with the Federation of Hong Kong Filmmakers, the exhibition recreates scenes from eight classic Hong Kong films and donates part of ticket sales to support the local film industry. Director Timothy Calnin said, “Tai Kwun’s annual summer show has become a kind of love‑letter to this city as we reflect on those special quirks, eccentricities, qualities and characteristics that make Hong Kong unique.”
