Hong Kong police launch AI platform for national security education
The Hong Kong Police Force, in collaboration with Hong Kong Qianfan Technology, has officially launched the ‘NSmarties’ AI-powered national security education platform for primary school students. The platform was unveiled during a ceremony at Precious Blood Primary School in Ap Lei Chau, attended by approximately 700 students.
Designed to make abstract legal concepts more accessible, the platform utilizes generative AI to allow students to create personalized storybooks centered on China’s ‘holistic approach to national security.’ This framework encompasses 20 key areas, including political, economic, ecological, and technological security. The interactive system also features voice navigation from high-ranking officials, such as Police Commissioner Joe Chow and security chief Chris Tang, to explain national security laws through games, short videos, and quizzes.
Police officials stated that the initiative aims to ‘plant the seeds of national security in students’ hearts’ and emphasizes that maintaining security is a collective responsibility. The platform is intended to transform passive learning into an active, immersive experience. Following the launch, the ‘NSpeed’ mobile promotion vehicle will tour schools and communities across Hong Kong to provide hands-on demonstrations of the technology.
