Hong Kong national security AI education initiative

Overview

The Hong Kong Police Force, in partnership with Hong Kong Qianfan Technology, launched ‘NSmarties’, an AI-powered national security education platform for primary school students. The platform uses generative AI to help students create personalized storybooks regarding China’s ‘holistic approach to national security’, which covers 20 areas including political, economic, and technological security.

To facilitate learning, the system includes voice navigation from high-ranking officials to explain laws through interactive games, videos, and quizzes. Police officials stated the initiative seeks to ‘plant the seeds of national security in students’ hearts’. Following the launch, a mobile promotion vehicle called ‘NSpeed’ will tour schools and communities to demonstrate the technology.
