Honor announces Magic 9 series launch and MagicOS 11 release

Honor has announced several major technological updates, including the upcoming launch of the Magic 9 series on September 28. This new smartphone series features a collaboration with ARRI, utilizing the film company’s color science. The devices are expected to support ARRI LogC3 logarithmic gamma curves and AWG3 wide color gamut to achieve cinematic image quality. Hardware highlights include the Honor Yuguang H1 independent imaging chip and potential professional imaging accessories such as external lenses and handles.

In software, Honor will release MagicOS 11 on September 15 during its Global Developer Conference. The new operating system aims to implement a system-level Agent, integrating proactive service and automated execution through its YOYO assistant. The update also introduces a “liquid glass” visual design and optimizations for storage and smoothness.

Additionally, Honor has partnered with Meituan to establish a Basic Experience Joint Laboratory. This collaboration focuses on optimizing system scheduling and application performance for high-frequency scenarios like food delivery and navigation, aiming to improve stability, power consumption, and memory management.
