Honor Magic 9 series launch and market performance
Overview
Honor has officially released the Magic 9 series, which includes the Magic 9, Magic 9 Pro Max, and Magic 9 Super Power Edition. The lineup emphasizes professional videography through its collaboration with ARRI, featuring ‘ARRI Cinema live-streaming’. This function allows users to record three-second cinematic videos by long-pressing the shutter, offering control over zooming and start/end points, a 2.39:1 aspect ratio, and access to an official ARRI Look Library containing 87 cinematic looks.
To support content creators, the Magic 9 features a 55-megapixel front camera with square framing support and AI-driven color tracking to ensure visual consistency across lenses. The series also introduces integrated infrared remote control functionality. While the standard and Super Power Edition models house the infrared module within the camera module, the Pro Max version utilizes a ‘360° infrared remote control enhancement’ for all-angle coverage.
Following the launch, Honor reported strong commercial performance in China. Within three days, device activations increased by over 70% compared to the previous generation, and initial sales on Chinese e-commerce platforms grew by 194% year-on-year.
