Honor Colorado dominates Paraguay’s municipal primaries ahead of October elections

Governor César Sosa said that internal disagreements within the Honor Colorado movement are normal and urged party leaders to work toward unity before the municipal elections on 4 October, following a meeting with ANR president Horacio Cartes.

The June 7 internal primaries recorded a 50 % turnout among ANR members and saw Honor Colorado win the majority of candidacies across the country. Notable victories included Camilo Pérez in Asunción (62 % of votes), Sebastián “Cheba” Remesowski in Encarnación (76 %), Rigoberto “Rigo” Chamorro in Ciudad del Este, and strong performances in the Central Department such as Laura Gamarra in Capiatá (82 %). The sweep strengthens the party’s position ahead of the upcoming municipal elections.
