Honor Power3 smartphone targets 14,000 mAh battery, sparking durability and charging concerns

Honor is developing the Power3 smartphone with a reported silicon‑carbon battery capacity of up to 14,000 mAh, roughly three times the capacity of flagship phones such as the iPhone 17 Pro Max. The Power series has quickly risen from an 8,000 mAh Power model launched in April 2025, to a 10,000 mAh Power2 released in January 2026, and now to the rumored 14,000 mAh Power3.

Silicon‑carbon chemistry enables the high energy density but causes the anode material to swell up to 300 % during charging, which can degrade battery health. Early adopters of earlier silicon‑carbon phones reported a drop to about 91 % capacity after six months. The larger battery is expected to exacerbate this wear. Even with a 120 W charger, charging the 14,000 mAh pack could take 80–90 minutes, compared with 35–40 minutes for competing 7,000–7,500 mAh devices. The phone’s weight could rise to around 220–240 g. Critics argue the record‑breaking capacity may bring more problems than benefits for users.
