Hooglede Implements White‑List System for Truck Gate to Restrict Through Traffic

A smart truck gate is being installed in the Belgian town of Hooglede, with operation slated to begin in June 2026. The gate will use cameras on four entry roads – Bruggestraat, Roeselarestraat, Hogestraat and Ieperstraat – to distinguish local delivery traffic from through‑traffic. Vehicles that pass through the centre without stopping to load or unload will be fined as unauthorized traffic.

To avoid penalties, residents, businesses and other road users with a legitimate need to cross the centre can register on a “white list”. An information session on 20 May explained the system and the registration process. The aim is to improve safety and make the village centre more pleasant for all road users while still allowing essential local traffic.
