Hołownia and Kobosko face potential loss of parliamentary immunity

Prosecutors from the National Prosecutor's Office in Katowice have prepared draft motions to strip the parliamentary immunity of Szymon Hołownia and MEP Michał Kobosko. The investigation is linked to alleged irregularities at Collegium Humanum, specifically regarding the acquisition of a psychology degree.

Reports suggest that Hołownia was listed as a student and allegedly received a diploma despite attendance issues, with claims that Kobosko negotiated the terms of the free studies. While Kobosko has denied arranging the diploma, he acknowledged providing documents on a collegial basis in 2020.

The process involves several stages: the drafts must be reviewed by the National Prosecutor's Office and the Ministry of Justice before being sent to the Sejm and the European Parliament. Only if both legislative bodies vote to lift their immunities can prosecutors formally summon the politicians for questioning and present official charges. The prosecution has also prepared similar motions for three other unnamed individuals.
