Polish politicians investigated in Collegium Humanum scandal

An investigation into alleged irregularities at Collegium Humanum has led to motions to strip the parliamentary immunity of several Polish politicians.

Initial reports indicated that prosecutors in Katowice prepared draft motions regarding Szymon Hołownia and MEP Michał Kobosko. The investigation focuses on the acquisition of a psychology degree, with allegations that Hołownia received a diploma despite attendance issues and that Kobosko negotiated terms for free studies. Kobosko has denied arranging the diploma but acknowledged providing documents in 2020.

Subsequent reports expanded the scope of the investigation, noting that immunity waiver requests for five politicians were forwarded to the National Prosecutor's Office. Among those identified are Michał Kołodziejczak, a Civic Coalition member suspected of obtaining a management degree through an intermediary, and Ewa Leniart of Law and Justice. While Kołodziejczak maintains he obtained his diploma by passing exams, Leniart’s case is reportedly linked to a separate matter involving the president of Uzdrowisko Rymanów S.A. rather than direct allegations of purchasing a degree.
