Hoshino Resorts launches New Year ritual programs in Kyoto
OMO by Hoshino Resorts has announced the “Shinshun Kaiun Asa-mairi” (New Year Fortune-Seeking Morning Visit) program, to be held at three of its Kyoto properties from December 15, 2026, to February 28, 2027. The initiative aims to promote dispersed tourism by encouraging visitors to explore the city during the quieter winter months and early morning hours.
Each location offers a themed experience guided by “OMO Rangers.” OMO3 Kyoto To-ji focuses on warding off misfortune through prayers at To-ji Temple, featuring traditional purification rituals with incense and herbal tea. OMO5 Kyoto Sanjo offers a “victory” theme at Honno-ji Temple, where guests can pray for success and goals through morning services. OMO5 Kyoto Gion provides a tour of Yasaka Shrine centered on family harmony and well-being.
The programs include specialized activities such as receiving unique temple stamps (goshuin), participating in traditional purification, and enjoying themed local foods designed to bring good luck for the new year.
