Hoshino Resorts regional tourism initiatives
Overview
Hoshino Resorts has announced several new regional tourism initiatives across Japan.
In Kyoto, the OMO brand is launching the “Shinshun Kaiun Asa-mairi” (New Year Fortune-Seeking Morning Visit) program, running from December 15, 2026, to February 28, 2027. This initiative encourages dispersed winter tourism through themed morning temple visits at To-ji, Honno-ji, and Yasaka Shrine. Guided by “OMO Rangers,” the programs focus on traditional rituals, such as purification with incense, receiving unique temple stamps (goshuin), and enjoying themed local foods to promote well-being and good luck.
In Nagasaki Prefecture, the Kai Unzen property is introducing the ‘Exotic Blissful Long Bath Plan’ starting October 1, 2026. Aimed at regional economic revitalization following the Reiwa 8 Kumamoto Earthquake, the package highlights the local ‘Wakaran’ culture—a blend of Japanese, Chinese, and Dutch influences. The plan features private long baths, ‘Onsen Culture Iroha’ guided tours of Unzen Jigoku, and Shippoku-inspired cuisine. The program runs through March 31, 2027.
Additionally, OMO hotels are introducing the ‘OMO Homecoming Passport’ from December 26, 2026, to January 3, 2027. This initiative targets travelers returning to their hometowns during the New Year, offering ‘Local Rhythm Night’ events and dice games to promote the concept of ‘hotel homecoming.’
