Hospital Materno Neonatal de Posadas calls for breast milk donations
The Provincial Breast Milk Bank at the Hospital Materno Neonatal de Posadas in Argentina has issued an urgent call for “solidarity mothers” to donate surplus breast milk. The initiative aims to support premature babies and newborns in the hospital's care who cannot receive sufficient milk from their own mothers.
Neonatologist María del Carmen González noted that donations have seen a seasonal decline, potentially due to high temperatures and increased demand. To become a donor, women must undergo an interview, complete a survey, sign a consent form, and provide laboratory results for conditions including toxoplasmosis, Chagas, VDRL, HIV, and hepatitis B and C.
