Cento Hospital receives €29,000 proctology equipment donation

The public hospital in Cento, Italy, has received a portable integrated Thd Digital Mobile‑Advanced proctology station valued at more than €29,000. The donation was made by local resident Paola Corvini, who has previously contributed an ultrasound device worth over €47,000 to the hospital’s breast unit. Hospital officials praised the gift, noting that it enhances diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities in the general surgery department and supports higher‑quality patient care.

Separately, the regional government announced an investment of roughly €3 million to build new operating‑room suites at the same hospital. The plan, presented by Regional President Michele de Pascale and Mayor Edoardo Accorsi, has been criticised by Francesca Caldarone, the Fratelli d’Italia group leader on the municipal council. Caldarone argued that the timing—just months before local elections—fails to address the broader loss of services such as the birth centre, paediatric emergency, intensive‑care beds and specialist clinics, stating, "A hospital does not die in one day; it dies one service at a time."
