Hospital Vidal y Fuentes installs breastfeeding awareness mural

To commemorate World Breastfeeding Week, a new mural has been installed on the exterior walls of the Hospital Dr. Alfredo Vidal y Fuentes in Minas, Uruguay.

The initiative was led by the Mesa de Infancia y Primera Infancia de Lavalleja, an inter-institutional group involving various local organizations. The project received support from the Ministry of Education and Culture (MEC) and featured artwork by local muralist Guillermina Vásquez.

Dr. Tania Zipitría, the hospital director and a pediatrician, emphasized the importance of the installation, noting that breastfeeding acts as a permanent immunization for children and provides significant emotional benefits for maternal bonding. The mural aims to promote breastfeeding as a collective responsibility and a vital component of child development.
