Hospitals in Chile and Panama launch weekend operations to reduce waiting lists

Hospitals in Chile and Panama are implementing weekend clinical operations to reduce medical waiting lists.

In Chile, the Hospital Regional de Copiapó conducted specialized medical sessions in oncology and cardiology. The initiative, funded by the Ministry of Health and the Atacama Regional Government, provided care to 41 patients. Dr. Carla Paulsen, Acting Director of the hospital, noted that the strategy aims to ensure patients have timely access to consultations, controls, and exams.

In Panama, the Dr. Rafael Hernández Specialized Hospital organized an extraordinary weekend session focused on cardiology. The event allowed 60 patients from Chiriquí, Bocas del Toro, and Veraguas to receive echocardiograms. Dr. Esaú De León, an interventional cardiologist, stated that these studies are essential for diagnosing heart conditions and evaluating valve obstructions, helping to advance treatments for patients who had been waiting for several months.
