Hotel Glória reopens as luxury residential complex in Rio de Janeiro
The historic Hotel Glória in central Rio de Janeiro has reopened as a residential condominium following a R$ 400 million renovation. The project, managed by Sig Engenharia, features 266 apartments across three towers, with 73% of the units already sold.
Apartment prices range from R$ 1.8 million to R$ 7 million, with unit sizes reaching up to 214 square meters. According to the Opportunity Fundo de Investimento Imobiliário, 60% of buyers are Rio residents, 30% are from other Brazilian states, and 10% are international.
While the building's historic facade was preserved under the protection of the Instituto Rio Patrimônio da Humanidade (IRPH), the interior has been modernized. The former grand ballroom, which previously hosted presidential press conferences, has been repurposed for resident events. The condominium rules prohibit short-term rentals via platforms like Airbnb.
