House fire in Zwolle and lightning‑hit barn blaze in Toornwerd, Netherlands

Firefighters in Zwolle responded to a blaze at a row house on Walstroweg, extinguishing the fire on the ground floor after forcing the front door. No residents were home, there were no injuries, and a cat was rescued. The cause could not be identified and the property suffered damage from the flames and water used to put them out.

In Toornwerd, a severe thunderstorm produced a lightning strike that ignited a historic barn on Oldenoordweg. The fire quickly escalated, destroying the barn and killing two calves while a nearby house was partially damaged. About 150 cows survived, and emergency crews rescued a pony and farm equipment. The fire was declared under control by early morning, and the community assisted with water and milking support for the livestock.
