House Fires in Indonesia Burn Homes in Bengkulu and Jombang, Injuring One Child
A permanent house on Jalan Jenderal Ahmad Yani in Gunung Ayu, Bengkulu Selatan caught fire on 14 July 2026. Firefighters arrived within ten minutes, deploying two fire engines and 25 personnel. The blaze, likely started by a kitchen stove, was extinguished in about 30 minutes with no injuries reported. Material loss was estimated at around Rp100 million.
On 15 July 2026, a house and adjoining grocery shop in Johowinong, Mojoagung, Jombang were engulfed after a loud explosion, suspected to be from an LPG cylinder. The fire destroyed the entire structure and a Suzuki Thunder motorcycle, causing injuries to a child who suffered burns on the hands and feet. The incident was controlled by a fire pumper truck and two water tankers by 21:00 local time. Estimated damages totalled roughly Rp200 million. Police continue to investigate the exact cause of both fires.
