Indonesia fire incidents July 2026

Entities: Jakarta Fire Department · Metro Jaya Police · Jalan Tambak · Menteng · Kombes Budi Hermanto

Overview

June and early July 2026 were marked by numerous fires across Indonesia, ranging from residential blazes in South Bengkulu and North Jakarta to larger conflagrations in Central Kalimantan and South Kalimantan. The month’s incidents often stemmed from electrical short circuits, faulty sockets, or dry‑season conditions, with fatalities limited but property losses substantial.

Late July continued the pattern. On 24 July, two adjacent warehouses storing pumps and generators in the Cakung‑Rorotan area of North Jakarta ignited; 17 fire trucks and 85 personnel brought the flames under control by 20:01 WIB. The same day a violent confrontation on Jalan Tambak in Menteng, Central Jakarta, led to a fire that destroyed a semi‑permanent stall structure and four motorcycles. Four people were injured and taken to Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital. Nine fire‑engine units and 45 personnel extinguished the blaze within an hour, and police detained about 15 suspects as part of a three‑cluster investigation.

A separate garment‑warehouse fire in Koja’s Jalan Kelapa Muda on 26 July was also attributed to an electrical short circuit, resulting in an estimated loss of about 150 million rupiah after nine fire trucks extinguished the blaze within two hours.

From 25‑26 July, fires were reported in several other regions: a suspected short‑circuit blaze destroyed four street stalls in Ambon’s Jalan Jenderal Ahmad Yani; a seasonal land fire in Bantul’s Wukirsari burned roughly one hectare; a feed‑factory in Jombang, East Java, burned for over 12 hours due to dry corn material; a five‑hectare land fire affected Ngawi’s Bukit Gogor; and a quick‑response water‑cannon operation contained a fire on the Pejagan‑Brebes toll road in Central Java.

All incidents were contained without casualties, underscoring ongoing fire‑risk challenges across the archipelago.
