U.S. House passes resolution condemning socialism and the DSA

The U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution condemning socialism in all its forms and specifically targeting the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA). Authored by Representative Jeff Crank (R-CO), the measure passed in a 220-192 vote. The resolution includes language expressing support for the SAVE America Act, a voter ID bill.

The vote saw eight Democrats join Republicans in support, including Representatives Kathy Castor, Henry Cuellar, Don Davis, Jared Golden, Vicente Gonzalez, Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, Darren Soto, and Gabe Vasquez. Conversely, five Republicans—Andy Harris, Clay Higgins, Ralph Norman, Chip Roy, and Pete Sessions—initially voted against the procedural rule to bring the measure to the floor, though they later affirmed the resolution itself. These Republicans cited protests against Republican leadership and the Senate's handling of conservative priorities, such as the SAVE America Act.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) opposed the measure, citing the inclusion of the SAVE Act as toxic voter suppression legislation. Supporters of the resolution, including Representative Bryan Steil (R-WI), argued the measure is necessary to protect election integrity and oppose extremist policies advocated by the DSA.
