Housing improvement initiatives support indigenous communities in Colombia

In Valledupar, 171 Kankuamo indigenous families in the Los Corazones sector have received housing improvements through an investment exceeding 4 billion pesos. The works include upgrades to kitchens, bathrooms, floors, electrical installations, doors, and windows to enhance habitability and safety.

This project is part of a broader rural housing program in the Cesar department, which has allocated over 74.9 billion pesos for 3,603 slots. To date, 2,683 improvements have been completed across 21 municipalities, reaching 74% of the departmental goal.

In a separate initiative, public servants and contractors from Cundinamarca provided voluntary donations to support three indigenous families from the Casimiro community in Quibdó, Chocó. Through coordination between the Cundinamarca Governorate and the Quibdó Mayor's Office, construction materials were delivered to assist with necessary home repairs, prioritizing households with elderly residents.
