Housing initiatives launched in Peru and Venezuela to address emergencies

In Peru, Caja Huancayo and the Ministry of Housing, Construction, and Sanitation (MVCS) signed a S/ 24.46 million agreement to implement temporary housing modules for families affected by earthquakes in the Junín region. The project utilizes a 'Services for Taxes' mechanism to provide safe and dignified temporary shelter while permanent solutions are developed.

Additionally, in Ucayali, the CITEforestal Pucallpa presented a temporary housing module made from Amazonian wood at Expo Amazónica 2026. Designed for easy transport and installation during natural disasters, the module aims to support the regional forestry chain. Minister of Agrarian Development and Irrigation, Marco Vinelli, announced plans to seek the module's official approval for inclusion in the Peru Compras public procurement catalog.

In Venezuela, the Ministry of Popular Power for Habitat and Housing (Minhvi) reported that Aragua state has risen to fourth place among Venezuela's 23 states regarding habitat and housing metrics, up from 18th place. Regional director Fernando Álvarez highlighted achievements in land titling, post-seismic inspections, and housing solution management as key drivers of this progress.
