Houston mother kills 4-year-old daughter and herself after custody loss

A 35-year-old mother, Cibelle Savella, shot and killed her four-year-old daughter, Vivian, before committing suicide in their Houston, Texas, home. The incident occurred on a Tuesday, just hours after a court ruling in a long-running custody battle awarded primary care of the child to the father, Aaron Savella.

According to court documents and police reports, the judge had imposed several strict restrictions on Cibelle, including a ban on speaking to her daughter in Portuguese without a supervisor present, a prohibition from attending the child's school or extracurricular activities, and requirements to pay child support and medical expenses.

The shooting took place at the family residence while Cibelle's partner and a babysitter were present; neither was injured. Vivian was pronounced dead at the scene, while Cibelle died in the hospital the following day. The father's legal representatives stated that he had followed all legal procedures to protect his daughter and was devastated by the tragedy.
