Houston police shoot gunman after indiscriminate shooting on vehicles

A gunman was shot by law enforcement after opening fire indiscriminately on vehicles along Wayside Drive in Houston. The shooting injured three people, including a mother and daughter traveling in one of the targeted cars. A third individual in a separate vehicle was also struck by gunfire, though an occupant in a third car escaped without injury.

Responding to reports of the gunfire, officers from the Houston Police Department and a trooper from the Texas Department of Public Safety encountered the suspect. After commands to drop the weapon were issued, officers opened fire, striking the suspect multiple times. The gunman was transported to a hospital for treatment. The motive for the attack remains unknown, and the incident is currently under investigation by the Houston Police Department and the Texas Rangers.
