Houthi forces face rising casualties amid Yemen ceasefire risks

The Houthi movement is facing significant human losses amid escalating military clashes across several Yemeni fronts, including Marib, Taiz, Al Dhale, and the West Coast. Reports indicate that 84 Houthi members were buried in the last six days, including 28 leaders. In Sanaa, funeral ceremonies were held for 40 casualties over the past week.

In Al Dhale, Yemeni government forces utilized artillery and drone strikes to target Houthi reinforcements near the Al Fakher market, reportedly killing and wounding several militants. This follows a period of increased Houthi attacks using missiles and drones against government positions and civilian infrastructure.

Concurrently, US maritime intelligence reports suggest the Houthi leadership is risking the collapse of the four-year-old ceasefire. The group is accused of preparing its population for renewed military confrontation with Saudi Arabia to extract political and economic concessions. These demands reportedly include $14 billion in Saudi financial support, the lifting of restrictions on northern territories, and a share of Yemen's oil revenues. While the Houthis have increased hostile rhetoric, Saudi Arabia has maintained a level of restraint, though officials remain wary of new threats to their southern border.
