Houthi forces claim attacks on eight Saudi oil tankers

Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saria announced that Ansar Allah forces have targeted eight Saudi oil tankers since July 20. The attacks were distributed across strategic waterways, with five incidents occurring in the Red Sea and three in the Gulf of Aden and the Arabian Sea.

In addition to the direct attacks, the Houthi group claims to have intercepted 48 Saudi tankers, forcing them to alter their routes. Of these intercepted vessels, 34 were reportedly stopped in the Arabian Sea and Indian Ocean, while 14 were intercepted in the Red Sea.

Saria stated these maritime operations are part of a strategy termed “blockade countered by blockade,” intended to protect Yemeni sovereignty and respond to actions against the Sanaa airport and Hodeidah port. The group also claimed to have conducted military operations within Saudi territory, targeting areas such as Yanbu, Najran, Jazan, and Abha.
