Houthi leader attacks researcher after U.S. Congress testimony

Houthi leader and former minister of higher education, Hussein Hazeb, has launched personal attacks against Middle East Institute researcher Nedwah Al-Dosari following her testimony before the U.S. Congress. Al-Dosari testified during a House hearing titled ‘Confronting Houthi Terrorism: Protecting U.S. Interests and Security in the Red Sea,’ which addressed threats to regional stability and international maritime security.

In her testimony, Al-Dosari warned against underestimating the Houthi militia’s ideology, regional ambitions, and ties to Iran. She noted the group's ability to develop advanced weaponry and its growing network of connections with external entities. Al-Dosari argued that airstrikes and sanctions alone are insufficient as long as the militia controls significant territory and resources.

She proposed that a sustainable solution involves empowering the Yemeni government to reclaim territory through political, military, and intelligence support, coordinated with regional allies like Saudi Arabia, rather than direct U.S. ground intervention. In response, Hazeb dismissed Al-Dosari on social media, questioning her Yemeni identity and labeling her a ‘soft tool’ used by foreign interests.
