Houthi militants assault surgeon and besiege hospital in Sanaa

Armed militants, identified as Houthi members, assaulted general surgery consultant Dr. Omar Bamshmous and besieged the Al-Ahli Modern Hospital in Sanaa. Dozens of gunmen gathered in front of the facility, attempting to establish an armed camp near the entrance under the pretext of investigating an alleged medical error by the doctor.

The siege caused panic and disruption among patients, medical staff, and visitors. The Yemeni Private Hospitals Union strongly condemned the incident, describing it as a dangerous violation of the law and an attack on the sanctity of medical facilities. The Union noted that such actions threaten the safety of healthcare workers and the continuity of private medical services.

The Union further stated that these incidents appear to be part of a systematic targeting of private hospitals through unproven allegations. They emphasized that any medical disputes or complaints should be handled through official legal and judicial channels rather than through armed intimidation or the storming of medical institutions.
