Recent reports indicate Houthi forces have engaged in both information warfare and direct intimidation involving medical facilities in Yemen.
An investigation by Al-Jumhuriya Channel revealed that Houthi propaganda videos utilized outdated footage from March 2023, which depicted a field hospital strike in Al-Dhale province, to falsely claim recent military successes in Marib and the West Coast. The investigation noted potential digital manipulation in the footage.
In a separate incident in Sanaa, Houthi militants assaulted a surgery consultant and besieged the Al-Ahli Modern Hospital. Gunmen attempted to establish an armed camp at the entrance under the pretext of investigating a medical error. The Yemeni Private Hospitals Union condemned the siege, stating it represents a “systematic targeting of private hospitals through unproven allegations” and a violation of the sanctity of medical institutions.
